The Pasco Myrmidons Rugby Club formed during the summer of 2008, since our initial meeting, the rate of growth in the organization has been very rapid and filled with excitement. What is most riveting about our team is the passion that runs in everyone involved, whether a beginner or seasoned veteran, everyone bleeds Black & Blue Rugby. Second to our passion is our experienced and talented coach, Dion Opperman. He has more than 21 years of experience in playing and coaching the game and whether it’s his game plans or teaching of rookies, he is innovative in his coaching style. Even the veterans are expanding their knowledge from the lessons our Coach has given.

As a team we pride ourselves on our discipline, smart play, mixed with excellent conditioning, and finished off with first-rate leadership from top to bottom. Sharing these characteristics as a unit is what that lead to our club’s nickname, the Myrmidons.

During the Trojan wars there was an elite military force that was lead by the greatest warrior to ever set a foot on a battle field, the legendary Greek Achilles. Achilles lead a group of soldiers that were know and feared throughout the world for being the bravest, most skilled, strongest, and most loyal to their leader, they were called the Myrmidons.

As a team we are eager to expand on and off the field. We invited players of all ages, skill levels, and experience to come out and enjoy the great game of rugby with us. We also look forward to developing a strong relationship with the communities around us, whether through sponsorships, social or charitable events, or by represented our community with pride out on the Rugby pitch. And finally, we are excited to expanded our rugby family with friendly relationships and competitive matches with all of the other rugby clubs throughout Florida.
